Power Point and Morphing: how to use the Morph transition

In the early 90s, a Michael Jackson music clip ended with a selection of people's faces nodding along to the music.

The Black or White footage was the first major example of morphing, where each face slowly changed to become the next face.

This effect is morphing, and we can also reproduce it in Power Point. Let's see how to do it below.

Estimated reading time: 8 minutes

The morphing effect

Il morphing takes two images and distorts and deforms the first until it creates the second. Despite being more than thirty years old, the effect is still impressive today.

If you are creating a presentation PowerPoint, you can use the morphing in the slides for create incredibly impressive effects. It's also simple to use: you create the slides and Power point it does everything else.

Here's how to use the transition Morph in PowerPoint.

What is Morph transition?

The 'Farm to Fork' Morph is a slide transition which transforms the image from one slide to the image of the next by moving the positions of objects from one slide to the next. This movement is done in animation style, so you can see the objects move smoothly from one position to the next.

The motion path for each object is created by the transition. You just need a slide with starting points and a slide with ending points - the in-between movement is created by the transition.

The 'Farm to Fork' Morph it lets you create amazing effects like moving multiple objects on the screen simultaneously or zooming in and out on specific objects on the slide.

How to use a Morph transition to move an object

You can use transition morph to move objects from one slide to the next. This gives the effect of smooth animation. You can select multiple objects on each slide and each one will move along its own path. The overall effect can be very impressive and look like it was created with video animation software, but PowerPoint takes care of all the hard work for you.

Create one slide with the objects in their starting positions and another with their ending positions. Apply the transition Morph and this will create a fluid movement between one position and the next.

How to use a Morph transition to zoom in on an object

Another very effective way to use transition Morph is to magnify an object. If you have multiple objects on a slide, you can use this effect to bring each one into focus in turn. The slide will be zoomed in so that only one object is visible, and then you can zoom out again to show all the objects. You can then zoom in on the next object, and so on.

This technique is useful for objects that have text attached to them, since the text may be too small to read when all objects are in view. As you zoom in, the text of each specific object becomes visible.

  4. Select Morph .
  1. You'll see a preview of the zoom effect you just created. While the transition is running, any content outside the slide area will no longer be visible.
