However, there is a quick way to get good-looking presentations: PowerPoint Designer.

But what exactly is it PowerPoint Designer ? Let's see it together.

Cos'è PowerPoint Designer

PowerPoint Designer is a tool that can automatically generate professional slides for your presentations, based on the text or images you add to the slides. The intent is to allow you to create professional-looking designs without needing to spend a lot of time creating each slide layout from scratch. It works by generating a list of design ideas that you can select for your presentation, based on the content of your slides.

PowerPoint Designer will continue to make suggestions as you work on your slides, allowing you to quickly add suggested design ideas to your presentation to create a high-quality presentation much more easily.

PowerPoint Designer It's only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers. If you're not a subscriber, you won't see the button Designer in PowerPoint.

How to activate PowerPoint Designer

You can activate and deactivate PowerPoint Designer with the click of a button. You can also change the settings so that PowerPoint automatically display design ideas as you work.

To activate PowerPoint Designer:

  1. To activate manually PowerPoint Designer, select the menu Planning.
  1. Click the button Planning in the ribbon.
  1. The panel PowerPoint Designer will appear on the right of the screen.
  2. To activate PowerPoint Designer via settings, click on the menu Fillet  .
  1. Select options at the bottom of the screen.
  1. In the tab General , scroll down and select Automatically show me design ideas .
  1. Se PowerPoint Designer was already deactivated, you may still need to press the button Planning to view the panel PowerPoint Designer.

How to create a title slide and design outline

When you create a new presentation in PowerPoint, the first generated slide has the formatting of a title slide, while subsequent slides added to the presentation have a different format for the overall presentation content. When PowerPoint Designer is on, when you add text to your title slide, you'll see suggestions for a professional title page design.

If you select one of these designs, a similar design scheme will be applied to all subsequent slides to match the style of the title slide. This helps you instantly create a presentation with a consistent look without having to change any of the slide styles yourself.

To create a title slide and design combination in PowerPoint Designer:

  1. apri PowerPoint.
  2. Click on Blank Presentation .
  1. Make sure that PowerPoint Designer is activated by following the steps in the previous section.
  2. Click in the text box Click to add title .
  1. Enter the title of your presentation.
  1. Click anywhere outside the text box and PowerPoint Designer will generate design ideas.
  1. If you're not satisfied with the suggestions, scroll to the bottom of the box and click See more design ideas .
  1. Select one of the cover page designs and the design will be applied to the slide.
  2. Add a new slide by clicking the menu Insert  .
  1. Click the button New slide  .
  1. Your new slide will automatically have the same design scheme as your cover page.
  1. You can choose from a range of options for this design scheme in the panel PowerPoint Designer.
  2. If you return to the cover page slide, you can also choose from a selection of layouts for this slide to get exactly the look you want.

How to use images in PowerPoint Designer

Once you've created a cover page and design outline for your presentation, you can start adding content to your slides. When you add images to your slides, PowerPoint Designer will offer ideas on how to arrange them in a professional design.

To use images in PowerPoint Designer:

  1. To add images to a slide, click the menu Insert.
  2. Click the button Images.
  1. To add your files, select This device .
  1. You can also add images from the web by selecting Images online .
  1. To add stock images, select Stock images .
  1. After you add images to your slide, you'll see suggestions for slide layouts that use those images.
  1. Make your selection and the design will be applied to your slide.

How to create graphics from text using PowerPoint Designer

You can also make sure that PowerPoint Designer Generate graphics based on text added to a slide. For example, a bulleted list, process, or timeline can be automatically converted into a graphic image that makes the information easier to digest.

To create graphics from text in PowerPoint Designer:

  1. Insert text into the slide. This could be a list, a process, or a timeline.
  2. If you add a list, PowerPoint Designer will suggest design ideas to turn the list into graphics.
  1. If you don't like one of the icons suggested in the design idea, click on the icon.
  1. Click on the button Replace your icon  .
  1. Select one of the options or click View all icons .
  1. Look for an icon and select one of the options.
  1. Click on Insert and your icon will be replaced with your new choice.
  1. If you add a process, PowerPoint Designer will suggest design ideas to transform your process into graphics.
  1. To create a timeline, add the timeline as a text list.
  1. Select one of the suggestions from PowerPoint Designer to convert text to a timeline image.

How to add illustrations in PowerPoint Designer

PowerPoint Designer can also suggest illustrations for your slides based on the text you enter. These are icons of PowerPoint which can be used to clearly show the theme of the slide you are creating. The designer can also suggest images to use in the slides.

To add illustrations in PowerPoint Designer:

  1. Insert text into the slide.
  1. Click anywhere on the slide e PowerPoint Designer will work on some suggestions.
  2. These suggestions can include background images that match the text.
  1. PowerPoint Designer can also suggest ideas for illustrations that match the text of the document.
  1. To change an icon, click on it, then click the button Replace your icon  .
  1. Select one of the options or click View all icons to choose yours.
  2. Enter a search term.
  1. Select your icon and click Insert .
  2. Your icon will now be updated.

How to disable PowerPoint Designer

If you decide you no longer want the distraction of the box PowerPoint Designer, you can turn it off in a couple of ways.

To deactivate PowerPoint Designer:

  1. Click on the menu Planning.
  1. Click the button Planning in the ribbon.
  1. The panel PowerPoint Designer it should disappear.
  2. To deactivate PowerPoint Designer via settings, click on the menu Fillet  .
  1. Select options at the bottom of the screen.
  1. In the tab General , scroll down and deselect Automatically show me design ideas .
  1. PowerPoint Designer it should now turn off.
