Microsoft Power Point: how to work with Layers

Working with PowerPoint It can be difficult if you are new to it, but once you get the hang of it, you will realize the numerous possibilities that its functions and features can provide you.

What even longtime PowerPoint users may not know is that you can make the most of it layer PowerPoint and work better with the help of the Selection and Visibility pane. 

Selection Box

To activate the selection and visibility box, look for the button Arrange in the Home toolbar, so you will have access to layer powerpoint.

And select the option Selection Panel

This pane allows you to work better with i layer. It helps you organize and keep track of different layer and elements on your slides as you design them.

The Selection and Visibility pane will show all objects, or layer, on the current slide. Each of these objects has preset names provided automatically by PowerPoint. Names like “Picture 4" or "Rectangle 3” can be renamed, however, so you can better recognize the objects you create. This is because these rather generic names can be confusing, especially if there are multiple text boxes and lines on the slide.

Then, to rename each object, just click its name in the Selection and Visibility pane and type the name you want. It's helpful to have a specific word or short phrase to describe each object as a name, so you can easily recognize it from other objects on the slide.

By giving your objects specific, convenient names, you can work better with them layer. It will also be much easier for you to identify these objects especially when working with complex animations, which also reflect the names you give to the objects.

Reorder i layer of PowerPoint

If you're familiar with Photoshop, you'll see how familiar it feels to work with layer PowerPoint and use the Selection and Visibility pane. Using the selection pane, you can access objects or layer which are obstructed by others layer in the slides. This means you don't have to dig through the many layer just to get to the one you want, just click on the name of the layer in the list in the pane and navigate to it on the slide.

If you would like to reorder the layer, you can also do it in the box. Simply select the name of the object you want to rearrange, then drag it up or down through the list of others layer.

You can also hide the layer if you want the items not to appear, but don't want to delete them in case you change your mind. This can be useful if you want to tidy up your slide for a while while you work with a few livelli at a time.

To hide each layer, just click on the “eye” next to the name of the layer in the selection pane to hide it, then click it again to show it.
