How to copy PowerPoint slides with or without the original style

Creating a great PowerPoint presentation can take time. 

Making perfect slides, choosing the right transitions, and adding elegant, consistent slide styles can be challenging.

You can copy and paste slides into a presentation PowerPoint or paste them into a new document PowerPoint. You can also make pasted slides match the style of other slides in your presentation. 

PowerPoint can also copy transition settings which may have already been figured out. 

All these actions will allow you to save a lot of time in creating your presentations, let's see how to copy the design of a slide in PowerPoint.

How to copy PowerPoint slides

If you simply want to copy a single slide from a PowerPoint to another or simply duplicate a slide within the same presentation, then it is quite simple to do. You can choose whether to keep the style of the original slide or match it to the style of the presentation you are pasting it into.

To copy a single slide in PowerPoint:
  1. Open the document PowerPoint containing the slide you wish to copy.
  2. Click on the menu View.

  1. Select Normal from the button group Presentation Views.

  1. In the thumbnails on the left, right-click the slide you want to copy.
  2. Select Copy.

  1. If you're pasting into a different presentation, open the document PowerPoint where you want to paste the slide.
  2. click on View > Normal to display thumbnails on the left of the screen.
  3. Right-click the slide under which you want to paste the copied slide.
  4. To make the pasted slide match the style of the current theme, select the icon Use Destination Theme.

  1. PowerPoint will automatically edit the pasted slide to try to match the style of the current slides in the presentation.
  2. To maintain the style of the copied slide, select the icon Keep Source Formatting.

  1. The slide will be pasted exactly as copied.
How to Copy Multiple Slides in PowerPoint

In addition to copying and pasting a single slide, you can choose to copy and paste multiple slides at once. You can choose to select consecutive slides or select a number of individual slides from the presentation. 

To copy multiple slides in PowerPoint:

  1. Open the presentation PowerPoint containing the slides you want to copy.
  2. click on View.

  1. To select consecutive slides, in the left thumbnail pane, click the first slide you want to copy.

  1. Press and hold the button Shift and click on the last slide you want to copy.
  2. All intermediate slides will be selected.

  1. To select non-consecutive slides, press and hold Ctrl on Windows or Cmd on Mac and click on the individual slides you want to copy.
  2. Right-click one of the selected slides and select Copy.

  1. Open the presentation where you want to paste the slides if you don't paste them within the same document.
  2. Click on View > Normal if thumbnails are not visible on the left of the screen.
  3. Right-click the slide thumbnail you want to paste the slides under.
  4. Click the button Use Destination Theme to fit the style of the current presentation.

  1. Click on the button Keep Source Formatting to paste the slides exactly as copied.

  1. The slides will be pasted in the order they were copied.

By creating a slide master, any new slides you add to your presentation will follow the formatting and theme you created in the slide master, ensuring that all slides are consistent throughout the presentation. You can also choose from different slide formats that all stick to the same slide master style.
