The modern TRIZ expresses 40 basic inventive principles, from which to start to formulate innovative ideas. Let's see some examples below:
11. Preventive measure: anticipating emergency vehicles
13. Exactly the opposite: reverse the action to solve the problem
18. Mechanical vibrations / oscillations
22. Conversion of harmful influences into benefits, that is transforming potential damages into opportunities
27. Replace a very expensive item with a less expensive copy
28. Replacement of the mechanical system, for example replacing a mechanical system with an immaterial radiant energy system
35. Transformation of physical and chemical properties, physical state, density or other
38: Accelerated oxidation, for example replacing the common air with oxygen-enriched air
According to the TRIZ methodology, the application of the 40 basic principles follows the path described by the matrix called the contradiction table, composed of 39 rows and 39 columns. The number 39 represents the number of engineering parameters that characterize the technical contradictions. Below is a list of the most important features of the technical systems:
These parameters present in the table represent the property of a technical contradiction and help to formulate and characterize a contradiction, mitigating or canceling it following a standard procedure, for example:
As a result of the analysis of thousands of patents, the table shows the inventive principles that resolve the technical formulations of contradictions. Although not all the cells of the contradiction table are filled in, the matrix expresses solutions for more than 1200 types of technical contradictions, substantially reducing the search to the most appropriate solution.
The Matrix provides an approach on how to select the best principles to resolve a specific technical contradiction, in order to reduce the process of experimentation, trial, error ... in applying all 40 principles.
Since the first setting of the matrix, numerous updates have been applied
While many of these attempts were undertaken with the best of intentions, they did not in fact contribute significantly to improving the TRIZ method, either practically or theoretically. Furthermore, even the best modification to the matrix will not guarantee the solution of a difficult problem. In fact the Matrix is not crucial, but rather the principles are crucial to solve the problems. They are a great tool for improving technical creativity, and trying to solve the problem in complicated situations.
A piece of advice that can be given to those who have just approached TRIZ is to use the matrix trying to analyze different contradictions, searching for a series of paths corresponding to the recommended principles, then use more than once those principles that have been recommended . A correct application of the matrix is precisely this, that is, starting from a small number of principles and applying them several times, for example principle 35 8 times, principle 5 for 5 times and number 19 for 3 times etc ...
In any case, this approach helps to understand and document all possible underlying techniques, contradictions in the system that can be of great importance for problem analysis.
TRIZ is the acronym of the Russian Teorija Rešenija Izobretatel'skich Zadač, which can be translated into Italian as Theory for the Inventive Solution of Problems.
Of course, the TRIZ method can be applied in the company to solve technical and technological problems in a systematic and scientific way. The TRIZ method consists of a series of tools that allow you to solve technical and technological problems in a systematic and scientific way.
The objective is to help companies set a long-term technological strategy, in order to maintain a constant competitive advantage supported by systematic product and process innovation.
The TRIZ method can be used to improve the performance of products and technological processes by reducing costs and waste through the development of a path of identification and analysis of a specific problem, its abstraction as a general problem of a principle (engineering contradiction), the identification of problem solution models through the TRIZ solution principles, the application of the most effective solution to solve the initial problem.
