Unwrapping Innovation: Blue Lake Packaging Announces Fiber-Based, Plastic-Free Alternative to Traditional Tape and Dispensers

With the holidays quickly approaching, Blue Lake Packaging is excited to offer an eco-friendly alternative to standard packing tape. Now available on Amazon, Blue Lake ECOLIFE plastic-free tape and dispenser are made from a blend of wood fiber and cotton and will appeal to the growing number of shoppers looking for eco-friendly products.

According to Deloitte’s “2023 Holiday Retail Survey,” 43% of consumers are now classified as “sustainable gift shoppers,” up four (4)% from last year. As eco-friendly wrapping paper has gained traction, Blue Lake founder Ying Liu has found that even environmentally conscious people tend to rely on duct tape contributing to the plastic waste crisis.

“My children and I continually applied tape and disposable dispensers to craft supplies, boxes and gift wrap. I felt a strong sense of guilt every time I threw away the empty rolls and dispensers,” said Liu, a former Apple executive who worked in Product Operations and Supplier Responsibility. “This project was one of my biggest passion projects when I started the company.”

The plastic-free ECOLIFE tape and dispenser, on the other hand, is a completely sustainable solution with the same adhesive power and dispensing force. Each set includes a reusable dispenser and four rolls of tape wrapped around paper cores, all housed in unbleached, plastic-free packaging designed to be easily recycled with other paper products. This not only addresses the issue of waste, but also the challenge of clarity in recyclable packaging, a concern for two-thirds of consumers according to McKinsey's 2023 “Sustainability in Packaging” survey.

“We want the entire user experience to be environmentally friendly from every point of view,” said Liu, adding that the plastic-free ECOLIFE tape is not simply a product, it is an invitation for consumers to reduce waste plastic, one gift at a time. “We went through numerous iterations of design changes, just to prioritize recyclability in every part of the product while getting the entire user experience right.”

The plastic-free ECOLIFE tape and dispenser are the latest in several sustainable products created by Blue Lake Packaging.

“We don't just develop, design and produce sustainable packaging, we use our fiber technology for consumer products,” said Liu, whose mission is to eliminate plastic waste by creating plastic-free alternatives to household goods. everyday. “We are redoing everything in a more environmentally responsible way.”

To celebrate its launch, ECOLIFE plastic-free tape sets are being offered at the promotional price of $10,99 for the opaque paper tape and $9,99 for the clear tape (reg. $15,99).
