The idea of the 3Bee startup that has conquered lovers, a 4.0 hive to monitor

Valentine's Day is upon us and for the innovative startup 3Bee it is an opportunity to celebrate love in all its forms, especially that for our planet. The startup, founded in 2017 by Niccolò Calandri and Riccardo Balzaretti with the aim of improving the quality of life of bees through technology, has developed the "Adopt a beehive" project that allows you to adopt and give a 4.0 beehive remotely even without be a beekeeper. 3Bee has in fact equipped beekeepers with a unique technology that allows them to treat bees remotely and monitor them.

Adopting a hive is a original gift, to share with your sweetheart on the occasion of Valentine's Day. Thanks to 3Bee technology, every adoption allows you to protect from 1000 to 10 thousand bees e produce up to 5kg of honey. For a whole year, every day, the two lovers will be able to follow all the vital parameters of bees directly from the 3Bee app, read regular updates, watch photos and videos recorded in the apiary directly from the beekeeper. From the calm winter to the turbulent spring, up to the hot summer and the gradual autumn retreat, the beekeeper will make his adopters familiar with the super beehive organism and all the wonders of the world of bees.

3Bee systems are equipped with bio-mimetic sensors installed in the hive that allow you to better program the activity and optimize its management, by monitoring weight, internal and external temperature, humidity and sound intensity.

The data is sent on the 3Bee app which can be consulted at any time not only by beekeepers who take care of it every day, but also by all those who decide to adopt one or more hives.

A few simple steps for an original gift to share with your other half
Giving a beehive is very simple. On the 3Bee website you can choose the beekeeper, the hive and, depending on the environment in which the bees are settled, select the flowering to be pollinated and therefore honey to taste. With the adoption you receive the personalized couple certificate and the credentials to access the 3Bee app to remotely monitor your hive for a whole year. This allows to establish a direct relationship between the local beekeeper and the final consumer.
At the end of the bee season, always respecting the production times of the bees, the two lovers will also receive, directly at home, a jar of honey chosen and produced by the bees of the adopted hive. A 100% made in Italy honey and coming from a controlled supply chain. I'm over 40 varieties of honey present on the site: from the classic wildflower and chestnut honey to rare honeys such as ailanthus and rhododendron honey. To these is also added the honey of love: a wildflower honey produced in the Larian triangle of Lake Como.

Sustainability and attention to the environment and beekeepers

Giving a beehive is not just an unconventional and unconventional gift. It is also a real opportunity to do something useful for the environment and our planet. Bees, in fact, are very important pollinating insects and about 70% of food crops and 90% of wild plants depend on their daily work. Essential for the preservation of ecosystems, but increasingly at risk due to climate change, abuse of agro-drugs, diseases, predators and impoverishment of natural habitats.

Since its foundation in 2017, 3Bee has equipped nearly 2 beekeepers with its innovative technology allowing them to intervene quickly and specifically on bees, preserving their health and limiting die-off. In particular, they are the bio-mimetic sensors installed in the hive that allow you to monitor weight, internal and external temperature, humidity and sound intensity directly from the 3Bee app.
2021 will go down in history as the year that recorded the sad record of the highest number of starved hives. Bees in search of nectar have found arid flowers and plants that have retained their sap due to climatic stress, reducing the hive's stocks and causing real famines. Thanks to 3Bee's technology, mortality has been reduced by more than 50%.

By giving a 3Bee hive as a gift, you are therefore supporting an Italian and virtuous beekeeping reality that takes care of the well-being and survival of its bees every day. And in this way also of our planet.

Supporting the valuable work of local beekeepers and spreading awareness of the important role of bees for biodiversity are the values that have always guided 3Bee.

3Bee

3Bee is the agri-tech startup founded in 2017 by Niccolò Calandri and Riccardo Balzaretti to preserve bees from extinction and improve their quality of life. The startup has developed HiveTech, a hive 4.0 which consists of a network of IoT sensors, which, positioned inside the hive, monitor the well-being of bees, allowing beekeepers to reduce treatments and decrease visits to the apiary. Since its inception, 3Bee has developed a network of 2.000 beekeepers throughout Italy in which it has installed its sensors and created the “Adopt a Beehive” initiative dedicated to individuals and businesses. For the latter, it has devised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program - Pollinate the Planet ”- which since its launch has made it possible to protect 150 million bees.
