ASENDIA'S 100% CARBON NEUTRALITY IS OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED

In 2022, Asendia met its CO1 neutrality targets 2, 3 and 2 (186.884 tonnes of CO2) while maintaining its commitment to achieve carbon neutrality through offsets. The emissions were offset with support from UN Clean Development Mechanis (CDM), a certified Chinese wind farm project.

Assendia, the joint venture between La Poste and Swiss Post, today announces that it has received the official CO2 offset certificate for 2022. The document was presented by the international consultancy EcoAct and confirms Asendia's success in achieving 100 % carbon neutrality.

Since the start of 2022, Asendia has offset emissions associated with international transport, first mile collection, last mile delivery, returns, office and warehouse emissions, machinery and business travel. 186.884 tons of CO2 were compensated by Asendia thanks to the support of a Chinese wind farm.

"The Gaolin Project", located in the provinces of Yunnan and Liaoning, promotes the use and development of renewable energy. It has currently built 88 turbines with an average capacity of 1.605 kW each, for a total of 141,3 MW installed.

Since its foundation in 2012, Asendia has placed great importance on sustainability, reinforcing its strategy in response to growing concerns about the environmental impact of its activities:

  • 2016-2020: Asendia offsets emissions for international transport to and from Europe, caused by its transport suppliers (target 3)
  • 2021: Asendia offsets emissions caused by its international transport partners globally (Goal 3)
  • 2022: Asendia offsets all partner international transport emissions (Goal 3), including first-mile collection, last-mile delivery and returns. Asendia also offsets emissions for offices and warehouses, machinery and business travel (goals 1 and 2).

To offset 2023 emissions, Asendia will continue to support the wind farm project in China. Supporting this project has several objectives:

  • Stimulate the economic and social development of the communities involved,
  • Conserve natural resources such as land and forests,
