Luxembourg launches its PCDS platform to ensure transparency of supply chains through standardization of circular product data
The Economic Interest Grouping (EIG) “Terra Matters”, as a neutral structure owned by the State of Luxembourg, has launched its Product Circularity Data Sheet (PCDS) platform, a solution SaaS that enables companies to create, exchange and authenticate product circularity cards, ensuring transparency along supply chains. By standardizing circular data, the platform is set to revolutionize industries and promote the adoption of ecodesign principles worldwide.
“The launch of the PCDS platform further positions Luxembourg as a key player in the global circular economy movement and highlights the country’s innovative strategy for solving sustainability challenges,” comments Lex Delles, Minister of Economy of Luxembourg. “The initiative demonstrates our commitment to promoting the circular economy and innovative solutions in Luxembourg and well beyond our borders. The Terra Matters Digital Data Platform is a powerful tool for adopting circular business models, developed in collaboration with European companies for European and global value chains.”
Based on a public-private partnership comprising the Ministry of Economy and the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the group Earth Matters aims to simplify and promote the widespread adoption of the PCDS platform. The initiative arises from the “Circularity dataset Standardization Initiative” in Luxembourg and led to the development of the ISO 59040 standard, which aims to standardize and authenticate circular economy data, promoting sustainable practices on a global scale.
With the launch of the PCDS platform, Terra Matters Group is poised to expand its impact, helping companies around the world adopt more circular practices and highlighting Luxembourg as a beacon of innovation in the global sustainability arena.
“Terra Matters is ultimately about making circularity accessible to all sectors by ensuring that data on the life cycle of products and their reuse potential is reliable and widely accessible,” says Jérôme Dierickx, CEO of Terra Matters.
